Tanzania Visa

Most travelers visiting Tanzania are required to obtain a visa before entry. At Bens Africa Safaris, we guide our guests through the process to make sure everything is in order before your journey begins. The visa is usually valid for tourism, business, or transit purposes.

The most common option is the Tourist Visa, which allows a stay of up to 90 days. Citizens of many countries can apply for their visa online through the official Tanzania Immigration website or obtain it upon arrival at major entry points such as Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam, and at border crossings.

The cost of a Tanzania Tourist Visa is generally 50 USD, while U.S. citizens are required to pay 100 USD due to reciprocal agreements. Payment is usually accepted in cash (USD) at entry points, or online if applying in advance. It is recommended to use new, clean banknotes issued from 2009 onwards.

To apply, you will need a valid passport with at least six months’ validity and at least one blank page for the visa stamp. You may also be asked for proof of return travel, accommodation details, or your safari itinerary. Our team can provide all the necessary documentation to support your application.

Some travelers from visa-exempt countries do not need a visa for short stays. However, requirements can change, so we advise checking the latest updates before travel. At Bens Africa Safaris, we are always available to assist you with the latest information to ensure a smooth entry into Tanzania.
